Important: Online Casinos USA [.net] understands that the following USA States prohibit online
gambling: Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington
and Wisconsin. We advise all US players to be aware of their local State laws before depositing.
Barney Frank discusses the pros of regulating online gambling in the USA and
attempts to point out the hypocrisy exercised by supporters of the current US gambling
related law, the UIGEA:
The US gambling laws are in a bit of a mess to be honest. It is not illegal to gamble
online except in the 11 States listed above. Elsewhere, it is widely regarded that online
sports betting "offshore" is illegal...but the act covering it, the 1961 Wire Act, was
obviously passed well before the Internet arrived.
What the government have done is passed a law (the "UIGEA") to try and make it harder
for punters to deposit and withdraw which has led to a lot of leading casinos to
pull out of the US, and this has paved the way for a lot of very dodgy operators,
who previously had been pretty much pushed out to re-enter the market.
So you need to be aware as an American citizen there is a lot more risk involved
now than back in 2006 pre-UIGEA. There is an excellent article on the UIGEA, the
somewhat underhand way it was passed and the effects thereof at TelecomTV. Read it here:
US INternet Gambling Law.
Stick with the casinos on Online Casinos USA and you won't go far wrong, but ensure you
